The race is held alternatively in Chennai and Colombo . This year the 74th annual regatta was held in Beira Lake, Colombo on the 23rd of July.
With an impressive 42 points to 8, CRC beat MBC to regain the Deepam Trophy . However the MBC women’s team with 25 points did a clean sweep winning all their events to win the Adyar Trophy.
The race of the day that brought the crowd to its feet was the Men’s “B” Fours in which MBC “B” won with a timing of 3 minutes 22 seconds. It was the fastest timing of the day. It is noteworthy to know that the MBC “B” crew comprised of 14/16 olds and their gritty performance left the Colombo camp dazed. The MBC “B” crew consisting of Karn Rao, Sharan Sanjay, Siddharth Sunil, Rohit Maradappa and coxed by Sanjay Gandhi is the youngest crew to have won a men’s race in the Madras - Colombo Regatta history.
